Studio Policy
All Students Must Have:A Well-Tuned Piano or a digital piano. A high-quality touch-sensitive keyboard with at least 61 full-size keys will be sufficient only for the first year.
Two Assignment Books (A three ring binder and a spiral notebook).
I supplement some of the materials and music. Required books for students can be purchased through my studio. Most students can spend $25.00-$35.00 per year.
Tuition Dues, Other Charges, and Payments
1.) Tuition must be paid the first week of every month. A registration fee of $50 is due with the initial joining of the studio to guarantee your spot. This is a one time charge. If summer lessons are not taken, then your spot is forfeited and a $50 registration would be due by August 1 of any given year to rejoin the studio. The minimum requirement for a piano lesson commitment is one term. There are 16 lessons per fall/spring term and 5 one hour lessons per summer term. Term are: August-December/January-May/June-July. Summer lessons are mandatory and scheduled on an individual basis. The equivalent of five one hour lessons for the summer are required and are payable in advance for the entire term.
Note: Please think of piano lessons with the highest respect and regard. Health clubs, sports, other arts and college all require advance payments. If you do not make it to the gym, soccer game, or class, you do not get a refund.
2.) Payments are due the first lesson of each month, if you forget your payment, please mail it to me right away, I do not want to bother with late fees. Make all checks payable to 88 Productions of Texas, LLC. Cash is accepted, too.
3.) Invoices - You will receive invoices after the 15th of every month. The invoice will include any tuition due, and any extra charges (including the recital fee, late fees, books, etc.).
4.) A fee of $30 will be charged for all checks returned due to insufficient funds.
Lessons
1.) Length - Lessons will last 30,45 or 60 minutes. Promptness must be adhered to in all fairness to each student since lessons are scheduled back-to-back.
2.) Parents are welcome to sit in and observe their child's lessons from time-to-time. For very young beginners, parents are allowed to attend each lesson in order to get the information they need to help the child practice correctly (until the child is able to do this on their own).
Scheduling
1.) Your Time Slot - The time that you select for your lesson when you register is your time slot. This spot is reserved for you to have access to private piano lessons, and your time will not be given to any other student. Therefore, you are expected to pay for all scheduled lessons. Whether you come to your lesson or not is up to you.
2.) Cancellations/Makeups: No makeup lessons will be offered during the regular term. Please call Kurt ASAP if you can not make your lesson. The last week of May each year will be dedicated to makeup lessons due to sickness, hurricanes, acts of God, etc. If I am not notified of a lesson cancellation via email or phone call BEFORE the scheduled lesson time, then no makeup lesson will be given.
3.) Teacher Cancellations – If for any reason I am unable to teach, a credit will be given to your account the following statement.
4.) Arriving late for a lesson – Lesson times will not be extended for students arriving late.
5.) Discontinuance of lessons – Students are committed to one term. Anyone wishing to discontinue for any reason must pay the entire semester in full to honor their agreement and contract with Kurt Kunzat/88 Productions of Texas, LLC.
